Christ of the Abyss

Off the coast of John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park in Key Largo, America's first undersea park, "Christ of the Abyss" rests at a depth of approximately 25 feet and is home to a thriving protected coral reef.

This bronze statue is a casting of Guido Galletti’s "Il Cristo Degli Abissi" and was a donation to the Underwater Society of America. The statue is a replica of another Christ statue located in the Mediterranean Sea standing as a memorial to sailors lost at sea.

To view the Keys’ Christ of the Abyss, it can be seen by glass-bottom boat, scuba diving and snorkeling in the Key Largo area. Key Largo visitor information: fla-keys.com/keylargoor 800-822-1088
