Spook Hill
It sounds like each state has one of these now but Florida’s Spook Hill goes back generations.
In rural Lake Wales, Florida stands a stretch of road that would be just like any other if it weren’t for the kitschy placard and outstanding illusion.
If you follow the instructions and stop your car at the top of what looks like a low point in the road, move your car into neutral and wait a few seconds, you will experience the phenomenon of being pushed up hill to the top.
The actual mechanics behind the action is that this is an optical illusion and your car is actually rolling downhill, not up but the road and scenery make it very tricky to discern.
Many ghost stories are associated with Spook Hills, stating that a bus of children died at an accident scene there and push vehicles out of the way so they avoid the same fate; some go as far as placing baby power on the back of the bumper or window only to find hand prints once they check again at the top of the hill. (The actual mechanics of this is that the oils from your own hand when you closed the trunk or hatch the last few times still remain and absorb the baby powder.
But, if you want to believe a little magic and that ghosts were there, that’s all up to you!)
