Myakka River State Park
Myakka River State Park is a crypid hotspot.
The most famous photo of the Florida crypid, known as the Swamp Ape, was taken in Myakka, Florida where an elderly woman snapped two pictures of what she thought was an escaped Orangutan. Since the photo was released in the year 2000, researchers and crypid fans have visited the part in hopes to gather evidence or have an encounter with the creature. Surprisingly, sightings are year-round but according to the BFRO the number dips during the hot months of summer, when no one wants to be outside in Florida including fewer hikers and hunters, and spikes during cool months.
